For over 67 years, prolific artist Lou Dagneau has been creating art. Her work is represented in a variety of media including oil, acrylic, and watercolor paints, colored pencil, pen and ink, and charcoal on canvas, paper, wood, and slate. She is also known for her fabric arts, decoy painting and more.
Mrs Dagneau began her studies in western Maine in the1960s with the Hungarian Fine Art Professor Lajos Matolcsy, founder of the Western Maine Art Group in Norway. She went on to teach art at the the YMCA
and also taught for years at Holy Family in the old convent/church community center where she had a dedicated classroom. There she taught all ages and directed some shows of her students' art.
Mrs. Dagneau works now exclusively in her studio nestled in a wooded oasis on Maine's inspiring mid-coast. Her subjects are drawn from her deep appreciation of nature and her love of giving to friends. This website serves as a personal gallery for Lou to share her work with the world.

Above, Mrs. Dagneau presents a donation to Western Maine Art Group President Melanie Thornberg. The painting is a portrait of Mrs. Dagneau painted by her teacher and mentor, Western Maine Art Group Founder Professor Lajos Matolcsy.
